We are most grateful to Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council for helping us to fund the Residents Association’s administration and environmental activities. For a number of years we have been successful in obtaining from them i) a Community Grant and ii) an Environment and Climate Action Grant. These total over €1000. Of course, we provide them with copies of receipts for such things as insurance and planting of bulbs and flowers.
In appreciation of these grants, we enter DLRcoco’s annual Tidy District’s Competition. We advise them what we plan to do each year and, in addition to looking at how we try to engage residents, they carry out a secret inspection of or complex and its environs each summer.
The icing on the cake is that in both 2024 and 2025 we have been recognised for our efforts to keep Residents informed and engaged. We won the ‘Community Engagement- Communication Award’ -worth €500 this year – which will go to beautifying our complex further. The Award was presented to Tom Robinson, Chairman of our Residents Association by An Cathaoirleach of Dun Laoghaire – Rathdown County Council -Jim Gildea – at the Awards ceremony in Dun Laoghaire’s Assembly Hall on Thursday 16th October 2025.

At the awards, Environmental Awareness Officer Fearghal McCollum had this to say:
“Brennanstown have continued to excel in keeping residents informed and involved as they win another community engagement award this year. Their website is regularly updated, Activities are coordinated using their WhatsApp group with 127 members (up 30 from last year!) , 2 community A-frame noticeboards ensure visibility for clean-ups and coffee mornings. and an amazing 229 AGM invitations were hand-delivered this yeart!
Their clear, consistent communication has built a well-informed and engaged community that continues to grow. Well done, Brennanstown.”
So, thanks to all those on our volunteer Residents Association Committee and to all residents who participate in our clean-up days, planting sessions, coffee mornings, street feasts – or who engage with our WhatsApp group which, of course is not limited to paid up residents.
Please consider joining the Brennanstown Residents Association when our Invitation Letters are hand delivered to your door in January 2026.
