Green Bins & Christmas Bin Collection

Dear Members and Residents,

The residents association had a call earlier today with the managing agents about green bins which were removed from bin sheds recently.

Following the call Brendan at Andersons shared the following update.

“In recent months there has been a lot of contamination of Green Recycling bins resulting in Thorntons being unable to lift the green bins and therefore have had them emptied as general waste. They subsequently removed the green bins from the relevant bin sheds.

Andersons recently met with Thorntons who suggested a revamp of the bin sheds to include new bins, (both general and recycling), and new signage in an effort to stop contamination of the recycling bins.

The new layout will have the green recycling bins located at the rear of all the bin sheds and the red general waste binds at the front of each bin shed.

Two bin sheds are currently without green recycling bins, they are the bin sheds at Le Hunt House and Carleton House.

Thorntons are working on having all bins changed out this week or next week. The two sheds without green bins will be prioritised.”

There will be additional household waste and recycled materials over Christmas, please help keep the bins tidy and accessible for all residents.

Only CLEAN and DRY recyclables are allowed in the GREEN recycling bins including – Cardboard, Newspapers, Empty and washed plastic bottles and cans.

Please do not put bags of recyclables in the green bins. All recyclables should be loose in your bin.

If the green bin contains bags it will not be lifted.

Rinse all food & drink containers.

Do not leave any materials next to or on top of the bins.
For more information on what materials can be recycled click see the my waste website

Please do not leave bags of waste on the floor of the bin shed as this attracts rats.
