Dear Members and Residents,

With dark and colder nights upon us, check out these top tips from An Garda Síochána on how to prevent crime and stay safe during the winter months.

Hear from Sergeant James Malone, Crime Prevention Officer, Dún Laoghaire

How To Prevent Crime During The Winter Months

Please remember…

Always lock the doors and windows every time you leave the house, even if it’s for a few minutes. Most burglaries only take only a few minutes.

Don’t open the door to strangers

Keep Lights on inside and out. Have lights on timers.

Don’t keep large amounts of cash in your home

Photograph all of your valuable items, especially jewellery. The Gardai regularly recover stolen items and your photos may help them determine ownership.

Keep valuables and keys out of sight

Don’t let strangers into the apartment blocks. Ensure that you close the front door of the apartment blocks securely when entering and leaving.

Be alert to online and telephone scams

Please look in on elderly neighbours or those living alone.

If you see any suspicious persons or vehicles please contact the Gardaí at Cabinteely on 01 6665400 or call 999 immediately

Kind regards,

Residents Association Committee
